Full Time Employment:

Production Management Assistant
Theatre IV and Barksdale Theatre are currently seeking a full time Production Management Assistant. Duties include assisting the Production Manager and Associate Artistic Director with scheduling and general administrative aspects of running the Production Department including recording and distributing production meeting minutes, coordinating and running auditions, scheduling production meetings, maintaining and distributing tour rehearsal reports, copying and distributing schedules, scripts, and other production materials, preparing information packets for actors, and stage managing/assistant stage managing as scheduled throughout the season. Applicants should have a strong background in theatre, knowledge of theatrical terminology, stage management experience, strong computer skills (including Word, Excel, Outlook, and mail merge documents), and excellent communication and people skills. Applicants should also have their own vehicle and a valid drivers license. Properties Master
Theatre IV and Barksdale Theatre are currently seeking a full time Properties Master. Duties include acquiring/building and maintaining props, locating furniture and set dressing within set budgets for all touring productions and main stage shows within our seasons, and maintaining the prop storage facility and inventory. Applicants should have experience with props, crafts, basic carpentry skills, computer skills (including programs such as Photo Shop and Publisher for creation of paper props), and be highly organized with the ability to work on their own and meet deadlines, as well as possessing excellent communication and people skills. Applicants should also have their own vehicle and a valid drivers license. Electrics Intern:
Theatre IV and Barksdale Theatre are currently seeking a full time seasonal Electrics Intern for our 2008-2009 seasons. Duties include assisting the Master Electrician and Sound Technician with general maintenance of all lighting and sound equipment, hang, focus, and maintenance for each production within the seasons, and assisting Lighting Designers with programming of light cues for each production within the seasons. Applicants should possess basic knowledge of theatrical lighting instruments and equipment, and be comfortable working at heights of 12 to 20 feet. Scenic Artist/Properties Intern:

Duties include assisting the Master Scenic Artist with painting scenery for all productions within the seasons, and assisting the Props Master with acquiring and/or building props for all productions within the seasons. Applicants should have some experience in scenic painting, have a strong ability to work on their own with instruction, and should have their own vehicle with a valid drivers license. Applicants should possess a strong knowledge of saws and power tools, have general scenic carpentry experience, and have the physical ability to lift and move heavy objects. Duties include assisting the Director of Costumes and costume shop staff with all aspects of the operation of the costume shop for all touring and main stage productions within the seasons. Applicants should possess basic sewing skills and be able to work in various areas such as stock, wardrobe, and craft. Possibilities exist for Wardrobe Supervisor and Assistant to the Costume Designer responsibilities for certain productions throughout the seasons. Volunteers Needed at Swift Creek Mill Theatre

 
Swift Creek Mill Theatre is seeking volunteers to provide assistance in a variety of roles. Our new volunteer program offers opportunities in areas of Ushers/Greeters, Production Support, Development and Marketing. Available now, via our website www.swiftcreekmill.com , is our current volunteer application. All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application and attend a training session offered at scheduled dates and times. The first training session will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2008 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Breakfast items will be available and session will last approximately 1 1/2 hours.
Swift Creek Mill Theatre has been a Richmond and Tri-Cities institution for over 43 years. We've come a long way since three local families took a 300-year-old gristmill and turned it into an intimate space for the production of so many splendid theatrical experiences. Four decades and more than 300 productions later, the Mill is still going strong in its historic location.
The theatre operates year round and accommodates 244 people. We currently produce six mainstage shows and five youth theatre productions each year, including world-premiere musicals and one-of-a-kind children's shows developed and written in-house. The playhouse also hosts a youth summer theatre camp.
