Last March, COVID-19 stopped us in our tracks, and our mainstage productions and tours came to a standstill. Although everyone on staff was either furloughed or laid off, we worked hard to stage our annual Anything Goes Gala virtually on Jan. 23. Your support during this time of tremendous challenges was incredible, and we raised $782,288. When we needed you most, you were there for us, and we are so grateful. If you didn’t catch it live, you can still watch it here. It’s full of interviews and performances with many of your favorite actors and theatre professionals from over the years.
Our virtual Gala theme was The Show WILL Go On, and we are happy to share that we have exciting plans for spring and summer. We will be introducing a NEW mini-cabaret series on First Fridays downtown, outside the November Theatre, beginning May 7. Directed by our Music Supervisor, Anthony Smith, Evening Songs will be a series of half-hour concerts with your favorite local singers, presented live in the open air.
And this summer, we will reopen our live performance season with the musical comedy, Ella and Her Fella Frank. As a tribute to former Artistic Director Randy Strawderman, who passed away last summer, we are creating an all new iteration of one of his signature hits. It will be revised by local playwright Bo Wilson for popular local actors Desiree Roots and Scott Wichmann (right) who play Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra backed by a fabulous live jazz band.
We look forward to welcoming you back very soon!
