The famous Winchester, Virginia songbird Patsy Cline has recently been featured in Ken Burns’ film Country Music airing on PBS. There is a resurgence of interest in her music, as people have been watching multiple weekly segments that explore the remarkable stories of the people and places behind this truly American art form.
You have a unique opportunity to hear Patsy Cline’s music performed live by local actress Debra Wagoner at Hanover Tavern from Nov 15 – Jan 5 in Always… Patsy Cline. Debra is reprising this role from a wildly successful 2012 production. More than a tribute to the legendary country singer, this heartfelt musical is based on a true story about Cline’s friendship with Louise Seger, a fan from Houston. Seger befriended Cline in a Texas honky-rink in 1961, and continued a correspondence with her until Cline’s death. Enjoy the down home country humor, and some of the finest songs ever written: Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, How Great Thou Art, and more.
