We are happy to announce that tickets are NOW ON SALE for the 2017 Richmond Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall! Now in its 19th year, the festival is a treasured part of Quill’s season, “the peak theatrical experience in Richmond.” (Susie Haubenstock)
Come see Shakespeare under the stars, where we perform some of the Bard’s finest work in the courtyard of an authentic Tudor home, built in the 16th century and brought over from England in 1926. There’s nothing else like it!
Love’s Labour’s Lost features a stellar cast directed by James Ricks, and will open June 2nd and run through June 25th. There are disguises, flirtations, silly dancing, hilarity and heartbreak aplenty in this lighthearted modern take on one of Shakespeare’s most effervescent comedies!
Then, Macbeth, helmed by our guest director Jemma Alix Levy, featuring performances by festival favorites Axle Burtness, Rebecca Turner, Jeff Clevenger, and more. It’s one of Shakespeare’s darkest works, and we’re bringing it ferociously to life in ancient Scotland.
The grounds at Agecroft Hall open at 6pm for pre-show picnickers. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the beautiful gardens surrounding Agecroft, as well as the spectacular views from the bluff. As you dine, members of the Lord Moxley’s Players, the Festival Young Company, will wander the grounds and entertain you with Shakespearean monologues, sonnets, and songs.
Don’t miss this exciting summer at Agecroft.
As our 2015 Hamlet, Molly Hood, exclaimed, “It’s full of magic.”
The Richmond Shakespeare Festival is presented in partnership with Agecroft Hall.
