Virginia Rep is pleased to announce the 7th annual Anything Goes Gala, an evening of entertainment in support of Virginia Repertory Theatre. Tickets are now available for this black tie event, featuring a cocktail reception, seated dinner, silent and live auctions, and entertainment. Marquee Sponsors are Altria. circle S studio and Dominion Energy.

The theme of this year’s gala is New Horizons, selected, in part, due to the new musical Atlantis upcoming in Virginia Rep’s Signature season. The theme also reflects the new horizons ahead of Virginia Rep, including New Play Development initiatives, Community Health and Wellness programming expansion, and strategic collaborations with Broadway producers and other regional theatres across the country to enhance the
national visibility of Richmond artists.

Artistic Director Nathaniel Shaw and Managing Director Phil Whiteway shared a joint statement: “[New Horizons] also feels incredibly relevant to where we are in our national history. We imagine we all feel a degree of unrest about the challenging divide in our nation. We are facing an uncertain horizon, unsure of the path forward. Fortunately, the theater provides space… A space for reflection and contemplation. A space for laughter and shared experience. A space where we can get away from the noise… and share in a story that might just bring us one step closer together.”

This year, Virginia Rep is proud to present the 2019 Virginia Excellence in Theatre Award (VET) to arts legend deVeaux Riddick, a cornerstone of RVA’s cultural community. Riddick and his partner, Robert Watkins, co-founded many linchpins of Richmond’s arts community, including The Richmond Ballet, The Concert Ballet of Virginia, and The Theatre at Bolling Haxall House. Riddick and Watson also co-founded DESIGN, one of Richmond’s first interior design firms, and designed the stage house at Hanover Tavern. Over the years, Riddick also acted in theatres around Richmond, including starring in Barksdale’s 1956 production of Don Juan in Hell. Virginia Rep is
pleased to bestow this honor upon such an influential Richmonder as deVeaux Riddick.
