So many of you have been asking when we’d be back at the Tavern, and we are very excited to share this news. This December, after a 21-month pandemic hiatus, we will revive our 2006 production of Barefoot in the Park (15 years later!), bringing back the director and a few favorite local actors who were involved in that production.
We are working out our safety protocols for the Tavern, and will soon have the show scheduled in our ticketing system so that you can be the first to get your tickets.
Barefoot in the Park is the breezy charmer that first etched Neil Simon’s name in Broadway history. We’ve always loved Neil Simon, and we’re excited to welcome an old friend back to our stage. Our previous runs of Barefoot in the Park attracted sold-out crowds and left the Tavern full to bursting with merriment.
The comedy concerns two young newlyweds who must learn to adjust to each other in a dilapidated fifth-floor walk-up in New York City. Corie is an effervescent free spirit. Paul, her polar opposite, is conservative, grounded and somewhat overwhelmed by his new wife’s joie de vivre. Everything comes to a comic head when Corie sets up a blind date between her dour mother and their exotic neighbor, Victor Velasco. The evening leaves Corie and Victor energized, her mother and Paul exhausted. Does everyone eventually kiss and make up?
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hanover Tavern Foundation’s cozy theatre, where you can have dinner followed by a show or enjoy refreshments in the independently owned Tavern Restaurant and Pub.
