AUDITION NOTICE — Cadence Theatre Company and Virginia Repertory Theatre are seeking actors for their upcoming co-production of Sam Shepard’s True West, directed by Rusty Wilson.

Rehearsals begin on or around April 7, 2020 for a May 9, 2020 opening. The show runs through May 31, 2020 at Theatre Gym. Local AEA (noted roles only) and non-union actors welcome. All actors paid. We are unable to offer housing or transportation for actors cast in this production.

Synopsis: A finalist for the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, True West is a powerful and intense story about estranged brothers Austin and Lee meeting after five years apart. Austin, the achiever, is working on a film script he has sold to a Hollywood producer when Lee, a drifter and thief, drops in. Holed up in their mother’s home in California, the brothers wrestle with the big issues (and each other) as they come to realize that they have more in common than they think.

In this production, the two actors playing Austin and Lee will alternate roles throughout the run of the show. Interested actors must be prepared to audition for both roles, not one or the other.
