“In reference to the character descriptions below-most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that in the following descriptions. But however limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.” -Language developed by Kevin Kantor and Emily Tarquin of Actors Theatre of Louisville

Frank N Furter – (Baritone/Tenor – Top F or G) a cross-dressing mad scientist from the planet Transsexual in the galaxy of Transylvania, brilliant comic timing and charismatic.

Brad Majors – (Baritone) The all-American man trying to obtain the American dream with his fiancee, Janet. Strong and dominant personality, but tends to crumble under Frank’s will. Looking for an actor with a strong voice and good comedic timing. Must be comfortable performing in underclothes and cross dressing.

Janet Weiss – (Mezzo-soprano) A sweet and innocent wholesome young woman, who takes the submissive role in her relationship with Brad Majors. She explores and develops a sexual curiosity throughout the show, breaking out of her naive shell. Looking for an actor who can pull off wholesome/sweet as well as confident/sexy. Must be comfortable performing in underclothes.

Riff Raff – (Tenor) Frank’s personal butler and brother/lover to Magenta. He is a creepy character who constantly lurks in the background throughout all the events unfolding. Looking for an actor with comedic timing and some improv skills and one comfortable with making others (actors and audience members) slightly uncomfortable.

Magenta – (Mezzo-soprano – Top C/D) Frank’s maid and sister/lover to Riff Raff. She is a thoroughly angry character who is never far from her brother’s side. Looking for an actor who can pull off a sinister caricature and play well off of others (characters and audience members).

Columbia – (Mezzo-soprano – Top C/D) A Transylvanian fan-girl and former lover to Frank and Eddie. She is an attention-grabbing character who loves having all eyes on her. Looking for an high-energy actor who can dance extremely well, including tap.

Rocky – (Baritone/Tenor) Frank’s beloved creation and newest lover. Rocky is a beautiful specimen, but is extremely confused by his environment and is easily influenced. Looking for an actor in extremely good physical shape who can be extremely expressive nonverbally. Must be comfortable performing in a gold thong.

Eddie – (Baritone/Tenor – Top F#) Columbia and Frank’s ex-lover – a delivery boy who stumbled upon the mansion. Eddie is the bad-boy persona who likes to rile things up and start trouble. Looking for an actor with great stage presence and a strong rock voice.

Dr. Scott – (Baritone) A friend and ex-professor of Brad and Janet and uncle to Eddie. Dr. Scott is wheelchair bound and has a German accent. Highly intelligent. Leads a group number. For this version can be male or female.

Narrator – (Mostly non-singing) Guides the audience through the events of the show. Must be okay being heckled by the audience. Looking for an actor with excellent projection and comfortable ad libbing.

Ensemble – (Various Vocal Parts) These Transylvanians open the production and start the hype of the show. Looking for high-energy actors who are comfortable interacting and messing with the audience.

A humorous tribute to the science fiction and horror B movies of the late 1940’s through early 1970’s. The musical tells the story of a newly engaged couple getting caught in a storm and coming to the home of a mad scientist unveiling his new creation, a muscle man named Rocky Horror.
