Virginia Repertory Theatre’s Tiny Tales program supports early literacy learning, social and emotional expression and language development skills. The class has been offered at area libraries and schools, and in January will make its debut at Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center, 4901 Old Brook Rd. in Richmond.
This 1 hour program is designed for children ages 3 ½ – 6 years old as an ideal introduction to the magical world of theatre. It will be offered on Tuesdays from 3:30 – 4:30 pm on January 10, 17, 24, and 31; and February 7, 14, 21, and 28.
Stories come alive as students delve into the imaginary worlds of their favorite books.
Using age-appropriate creative drama, experienced Virginia Rep teaching artists guide the participants through a fun, interactive and multisensory journey through a work of children’s literature.
The teaching artists need help solving a problem that is introduced in the book, and enlist the class to assist them on their adventure. Students are encouraged to offer ideas and suggestions to tackle problems and solve conflicts all while counting, sequencing, singing and moving with their bodies. Within the pages of a book, the group discovers the resolution to their obstacle.
Cost: $60 for this 8 Week Course
