  • Communicate on a regular basis with schools (mostly) throughout Virginia in an effort to book 380+ touring performances of 20+ different shows each year, both Virginia Rep on Tour and Tiny Tales
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with school sponsors in VA and parts of MD, NC, and WV
  • As appropriate, work with central offices to book multiple performances into some school systems
  • Create, distribute, collect, and file contracts with, to, and from each sponsor to ensure proper financial and logistical management
  • Communicate and coordinate with Prevent Child Abuse Virginia to enable their role in maintaining the Hugs and Kisses safety net
  • Communicate and coordinate with Hannah Miller, Associate Director of Development, to ensure that Virginia Rep is meeting its development obligations (in terms of booking the correct number of free or deeply discounted performances in funded areas)
  • Serve as resident expert on VA’s SOLs
  • Regularly determine which SOLs relate to each production
  • Supervise the creation, updating, and cataloging of study guides for each production
  • Schedule and supervise appearances at “booking” conferences (PTA, Fairfax, etc.) as appropriate
  • Select, train, and supervise the Arts-in- Education Intern
  • Manage Virginia Rep’s Virginia Commission for the Arts touring grant
  • Participate in marketing through input into brochure design, mailing lists, etc.

Skill Set – We seek a candidate who:

  • is smart, pleasant, and a strong team player;
  • enjoys the sales process and is an excellent communicator;
  • has a passion for theatre and education;
  • demonstrates an outgoing and engaging personality;
  • has strong organizational skills and is detail oriented;
  • is proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive;
  • demonstrates maturity and a professional demeanor; and
  • is responsible, hardworking, and a self-starter.
  • Past experiences with Virginia Rep’s tour and with arts admin in general are definite plusses.

Supervisor and Starting Date:

The Arts-in- Education Manager reports to Eric Williams, Director of Tour Operations. Eric’s tour responsibilities are supervised by Bruce Miller, Founding Producer. The position begins immediately, and a successful applicant will be expected to hit the ground running.


Salary will be entry level and commensurate with experience, plus:

  • two weeks (ten days) paid annual leave,
  • two weeks (ten days) paid sick leave (two days of which can be taken as personal leave),
  • at least eight paid holidays (Labor Day, Thursday and Friday at Thanksgiving, at least three days at Christmas and New Year’s, Memorial Day, and Independence Day),
  • at least 50% health for the individual,
  • and four comp tickets for each Virginia Rep production.
