Concessions & Operations Manager

Ashland Theatre Foundation is seeking a motivated, customer service-oriented self-starter to join our team in our newly restored historic theatre as the Operations & Concessions Manager.

This position reports to the CEO and supervises all box office/concessions/front of house/maintenance/technical staff, volunteers and contractors as assigned. This includes hiring, contracting, scheduling, training, bookkeeping, and personnel reviews. The Concessions & Operations Manager (CO) will maintain vendor relationships and assure operational adherence to Health Department and ABC rules and regulations. The position insures the highest quality and safest experience for every patron, employee, volunteer, and performer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The CO will negotiate with food and beverage suppliers and continually monitor inventory for replenishment.
  • Oversee and conduct (with assistant managers) all cash and credit card accounting for both box office sales and concession revenues.
  • Oversee general daily maintenance, preventative maintenance and emergency maintenance of the theatre building and all equipment and facilities.
  • Keep an owner’s manual of all equipment and a direct relationship with all suppliers.
  • The CO is the first point of contact for upset customers. Along with the CEO, the CO will set policy for refunds or complaint escalation.
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO.

This is an exempt salaried position and will regularly work nights and weekends. The CO will sometimes be called upon to rush into work in the case of emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in hospitality, administration or related field
  • Previous management experience in a customer service setting
  • Outstanding professional communication skills; written, verbal, and non-verbal
  • Ability to maintain multiple relationships with outside vendors
  • Demonstrate good judgment, decision making, and conflict resolution skills

Technical Director & Projectionist

Cinema, Concerts, Stand-up Comedy, Speakers and Special Events will be presented in the newly renovated Ashland Theatre that is about to re-open its doors.  We are seeking a true AV networking “geek” and live stage technician to join our team as the head of our technical equipment.  Experience networking presentations to external displays and troubleshooting as well as time spent running light and digital sound boards with a passion for these technical elements is a necessity.

The Technical Director will be trained and is responsible for the basic operations of our brand new 4K Sony digital projector, management of live event lighting and sound equipment in the theatre, negotiating rentals and bookings, as well as other duties as assigned by CEO including covering box office and concessions when needed.  The candidate will engage and interact with guests to ensure the comfort, safety, and enjoyment of their movie viewing experience and engage with touring bands and our music promoter acting as the technical expert for the building.  The TD will facilitate repairs and any needed rental equipment.

This position reports to the President/CEO.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Have working knowledge of digital projection equipment and/or the willingness to learn about it
  • Maintain excellent presentation quality and seamless audio visuals for all guests in theatre
  • Maintain the function and regular maintenance of all lights and sound equipment and the digital projector
  • Program and format weekly film content and build digital cinema packages
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the projection booth and the lights and sound booth
  • Hold vendors and contractors accountable to their commitments and be the main point of contact for individuals and groups interested in renting our facilities
  • Other duties assigned by CEO

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a theater or technology background is required
  • Must have extensive Networking and AV hands-on experience with excellent computer skills and experience with AV presentations in a corporate, educational or theatrical setting.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in a variety of computer programs is required
  • High school graduate, bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably with some coursework in communication, Audio/Video operation, or electronic media field
  • Ability to work collaboratively and calmly in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with fellow team members and management
  • Ability to work a variable schedule, including weekends and night shifts
