We welcomed our Pipeline cast to Virginia Rep this week, and the excitement was palpable…even behind our masks! Safety protocols were in place to protect the health of cast, crew and staff. Our creative team presented designs for costumes, lighting and scenery as the vision for this riveting regional premiere was revealed.
Opening October 15 in our historic November Theatre, Pipeline is directed by Katrinah Carol Lewis.
The two lead characters central to the story are Nya, the teacher/mother, who is played by Sasha Wakefield, and Omari, her son, played by Trevor Lawson.
Sasha is from RVA and will be making her Virginia Rep debut. Some recent roles include Adrianna in the feature film Liam White, Janice in the short film One Nation, and Charlie in the short film Redlining. You may have seen her in local commercials for GRTC, Virginia Lottery, and the Virginia Department of Health.
Trevor graduated from VCU in 2021 with a B.F.A. in theater performance. Hailing from Newport News, Trevor’s first professional show was The Last Days of Judas Iscariot at Dogtown Dance Theater. He was also in the ensemble of the VCU mainstage production of The Three Musketeers.
Supporting roles will be filled by Laine Satterfield, Iman Shabazz, Todd Patterson, and Jessie Jordan.
Watch this space as we present behind-the-scenes interviews in the next few weeks.
