Randolph-Macon College is looking for a part-time Technical Director and Scene shop manager. Generally, the shop is open afternoons, M-F. There is some flexibility available. Some additional hours for production work may be required.
The TD/Shop manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all technical aspects of the just-opened Cobb-Kesler Theatre and Shop. Working with the scenic and lighting designer for each production, the TD/SM advises on technical needs and assists with budget and time estimations for construction and installation of scenery and lighting. The TD/SM then plans, supervises, and assists with set and stage construction and painting, and lighting and sound installation. The TD/SM will attend all necessary technical rehearsals prior to opening of each show to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of mounting the productions.
In addition, the TD/SM will perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintain inventory of necessary supplies; assist in budget preparation; and supervise all regular shop sessions to accomplish the needs of the Theatre Program and support the safe and efficient operation of the Cobb-Kesler Theatre and Shop.
The Technical Director/Shop Manager reports primarily to and works with the Faculty Designer and Director of the Theatre Program to accomplish the needs of the program.
