AUDITIONS: “The Lifespan of a Fact” – Chamberlayne Actors Theatre

By | June 22, 2025

Chamberlayne Actors Theatre and Director Andrew Gall are seeking to cast the following roles for their upcoming production of The Lifespan of a Fact by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell, and Gordon Farrell:

JIM FINGAL (Male, 20s–early 30s)

An ambitious, hyper-intelligent, socially awkward fact-checker. Bright-eyed but intense. He believes in rules, systems, and precision. Jim sees truth as a fixed and knowable quantity—and is increasingly exasperated by any deviation. A “human search engine” with questionable people skills. Must have strong comedic instincts and be able to build from neurotic earnestness to passionate confrontation.

JOHN D’AGATA (Male, 40s–50s)

A celebrated essayist. Charismatic, cerebral, opinionated, and deeply entrenched in his own worldview. He believes in emotional truth over factual accuracy, and will argue with elegance and fire to defend it. A man of contradictions—confident but guarded, charming but cutting. The role requires sharp timing and the ability to spar intellectually while revealing complex emotional stakes beneath the surface.

EMILY PENROSE (Female, 40s–50s)

Editor-in-chief of a high-stakes magazine. Smart, tough, composed under pressure. She’s spent years balancing the competing demands of art, journalism, and corporate survival. Emily is the authority in the room—pragmatic, strategic, and often the only adult present. The role requires gravitas, wit, and the ability to referee the increasingly absurd war between Jim and John with grounded humanity.
