| AUDITIONS: MARY SHELLEY’S FRANKENSTEIN Richmond Shakespeare is seeking five adventurous storytellers to bring a literary legend to life. Auditions are now open for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, adapted by David Catlin from the novel by Mary Shelley and directed by Foster Solomon. This highly theatrical adaptation begins with Mary Shelley, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Lord Byron, Claire Clairmont, and Dr. John Polidori gathered together—and then sends them plunging into Mary’s imagination. The five actors transform into the characters of her famous story: Mary becomes Elizabeth, Percy becomes Victor Frankenstein, Byron becomes the Creature, and the ensemble takes on numerous other roles as the worlds of Mary Shelley and Frankenstein collide. AUDITION DETAILS Auditions: Monday, August 24 | 6:00–11:00 PM Callbacks: Tuesday, August 25 | 6:00–11:00 PM Actors should prepare a 1–2 minute Gothic monologue demonstrating strong storytelling, imagination, emotional intensity, or heightened language. All roles are open to performers of any ethnicity. PRODUCTION SCHEDULE Rehearsals: August 26–September 30 Monday–Friday, 7:00–11:00 PM Saturdays, 1:00–5:00 PM Performances: October 1–November 1, 2026 Weekday student matinees and evening/weekend performances are included in the performance schedule.
