The Three O’Clock Briefing – RTP

By | April 19, 2026

Directed by RTP’s artistic director Lucian Restivo, Bo Wilson’s new play takes place deep in an unnamed region of the Middle East, where a prize-winning journalist Roberta “Bobbi” Bookman (played by Kendall Walker) tries to get a slippery US Marine Public Affairs Officer Cary Bookman (Evan Nasteff) to confirm a story she’s uncovering…but the officer is her brother, so he already knows how *formidable* she can be.

As the two spar over what can and can’t be admitted, older and more painful stories begin to emerge. Shifting nimbly between quick humor and white-knuckled confrontations, The Three O’Clock Briefing is a two-character play about history, family, and the narratives we craft when the truth cuts too deeply.

Among Bo Wilson’s more than 30 plays are The Charitable Sisterhood of the Second Trinity Victory Church (which premiered at Virginia Rep’s Hanover Tavern and has now been performed all over the US and internationally) and The Boatwright, which won two national awards and premiered at the Grand Rapids Civic Theater of Michigan in 2014 and received its professional premiere at Richmond’s Firehouse Theater in February, 2017. He has been published by Dramatic Publishing, Samuel French, and Algonquin Press. In 2016, his play, The Bookbinder’s Tale, was a finalist for the National Playwrights’ Conference at the O’Neill Theatre Center.
